Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre 2020

Applications are open for Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre for reenactors, 18th and 19th April 2020.

The event is looking for reenactors from 5th-15th century and also those groups who fit a general medieval theme.

We will be having separate living history encampments for the periods and 2 separate battles (Dark Age Battle and Medieval Battle to include archery) and as before both battles are open to all those with appropriate kit so there is the option to appear in both. As well as our battles we will be having a set tournament that can be entered and some free play time to train recruits, settle grudges or just have fun fighting in the small arena.

We are looking in the first place for groups who can deliver an all round package to the event being this a living history camp, characters within the camps, small in camp demonstrations, willingness to be “guards” for the site entrance, public interaction and we will also be looking for people to help run the tournament.

Numbers will be limited (and down to pure physical space we have be allocated) and we will consider all applications, to this end we will be informing groups of spaces allocated by the 14th of November.

There will be a plastic camping option but this is limited and preference will go to those who are looking to do living history camps.

There is an online booking form to fill in followed by PL and risk assessments to be sent via email

Please put the number of reenactors followed by the number of fighter in the box that says number of reenactors. I’m aware some people were not able to attend last year and afterwards said they could sold themselves better so please let us know all that you can and would like to do at the event.

The camping required space will as always depend upon your members interest. We recommend that you allow for your normally required space and then we will ask for edited and final amounts nearer the time. This year we will need each group to supply a list of members names by the 30th March as these will be on the door for entrance.

We will be having no Blackpowder on site due to the site rules inplace.

As always please feel free to let other groups know about the event quite keen to have a Norman era/Barons war encampment (and a potential 3rd battle of the day)
