bronze aquamanille bronze lamps - Edward I

Postby nadinp03 » Wed Dec 03, 2008 4:24 am

I am after a reproduction lamp made from bronze/ other realistic metal for my living history display, which is based around the reign of Edward I.

Does anyone know where/ who would be able to supply me with two lamps? What fuel would the lamps use? Would it be a candel in each??

I am also after a bronze/ again, other suitable metal aquamanille.

Any ideas who could supply me one of these? I'm preferably after a lion/mounted knight design.

Thanks for your help,

See for historical examples (no links to lamps for sale from there, though you might want to expand your search to glass examples for the period you're interested in, although most of the examples I've found seem to be depictions of ecclesiastical contexts. These would have been fueled by oil, and had a wick. (IIRC, the recommended oil for use in some of the repro lamps I've seen has been olive oil, but I don't think that was common in medieval England.)
