Hooded Tunic

Post by Panda »

Am looking for a pattern for a hooded tunic as I have never played around with hoods before. Any suggestions?

What period? If you are after something like a Byrus Britannicus then there is an excellent article by Sally Pointer in the resources section of the Vicus website.

Would a gardecorps be what you're after?

I think the general principle is to make an ordinary tunic, and then handsew a rectangular/square to it (obviously you first sew the top and back of the hood before attaching it to the neckline of the tunic.

panda, will you be home for christmas??

hoods are dead easy, honest; once you have the neck hole and the hood the same size as each other.

Or if the hood is slightly bigger than the neckhole just pleat it in. Come and have a chat at TORM, bring pen and paper and I'll draw you some useful pictures.
