Old Town Work Clothes

Postby Wiblick » Thu Apr 17, 2008 4:48 pm

You've all been keeping this secret from me haven't you?

http://www.old-town.co.uk/index2.htm

I've spoken to them and they do what you see, so they are NOT a WWII or anything else re-enactment shop, but wonderfully quirky, just fabulous.

I'm in search of cream aertex shirts and stumbled upon them. But they don't do them. If anyone can help with cream aertex shirts (for Women's Land Army) Please PM me.

Aoife

check out their friends http://www.labourandwait.co.uk/ I may actually pass out from the joy of a knitted teatowel.

Would the Hayden model do ? http://www.aertex.com/retail/acatalog/a ... hirts.html

To get cream, Nylon now do a cream dye. Or you can tint with a mixture of tea AND coffee.

Mind you, all the listings say 'fawn', so another dye colour, or more coffee than tea and steep it for longer but keep it moving all the time.

some sources say cream for the short sleeved and fawn/khaki for a long sleeved shirts some women remember being issued, so I think I have a touch of leeway. Also some girls stole their brother's shirts having not gotten any issue shirts.

Now that I have stopped being so single minded about getting cream/fawn off the shelf and have realised I could just dye something that shirt will do the job nicely.

So thanks!

Now to figure out sizing... ah (edit) found the PDF!
