Mary Rose fiddle

Post by Foxe »

Just finished a replica of one of the Mary Rose fiddles. The body is copied from the surviving fragments, the neck and fittings are conjectural based on similar instruments.

That looks great, lovely work. I've never heard a box fiddle played, how does it sound compared to a viol shaped fiddle?

It's very mellow indeed, and a fair bit quieter than a "normal" fiddle. Lovely indoor instrument.

Hi, I am wondering if you made any more Mary Rose fiddles and might have one for sale.
Cheers

I wish we could still see the picture of the reconstructed Mary Rose fiddle the original poster described!

(OK the post is a few years old now!)

Thread necromancy at its finest! Hopefully this will work:

I have made a couple since this one, and I would consider making another if anyone wanted.
