Medieval Music for Guitar & Mandolin

Postby Sir Thomas Hylton » Mon Jun 01, 2009 4:27 pm

Anyone know any good books out there for medieval Music specially converted for Guitar or Mandolin. Or any suggestions for alternative Tunings for guitar that would make a good stab at various types of medieval music.

I'm normally more into Folk music & ironically a bit of Classic rock, & a bit of Metal, but consider it might be worth me knowing a few decent tunes to be able to whip the guitar out on a re-enactment weekend & play something a bit more authentic, if not on an authentic instrument. Though that is someting I would like to explore over time too.

btw Tablature format suggestions preferable.

Trainee barber surgeon. My crew already don't trust me. A good start I think.

very late reply to this, but if you look up a german band called "Poeta Magica", and look to speak to Holger or Friederike (www.poetamagica.de / info@poetamagica.de) I reckon they would be able to point you in the right direction. loverly folks who play AMAZING music.
