Gurdy madness

Postby gallois » Wed Apr 22, 2009 9:24 pm

After seeing Dennis Havlenas home made hurdy gurdy on Youtube I have got a hankering to have a go myself. At an antique fair last weekend I picked up a cheap guitar with a broken machine head. This will be the basis for the gurdy. I am planning on a 6 string version with 2 bass drones, 2 chanterelles, 1 Trompette and 1 mouche. I may make a few small changes to Dennis' design but these will be reversible if they dont improve the sound quality.
If anyone is interested in following the build I can post photos and progress?

When he was a pup and we lived in Spain I had to have him 'done' cos he was so aggressive. The vet being Spanish and a bit of a joker freeze dried the removed items and put them inside a Maracas! So whe someone says ' those Maracas are the dogs b******s!' they dont know how true it is. Anyone got the derivision of the saying (d b's) gets first prize?

The famous Meccano construction sets were originally sold in either "box standard" or "box deluxe". "Box standard" was corrupted to "Bog standard" and "Box deluxe" to "dogs B***cks".
