Having just spent a weekend at Tintagel blowing my horn in public (hurr hurr hurr... sorry) I'm wondering (a) why more standard bearers aren't doing the same, (b) what information resources are available regarding the people in history who sent their troops into combat with a blast of wind, and (c) if anyone can get hold of a carnyx (celtic boar-horn) for me.

I've only ever seen - and heard - one Carnyx, it was made especially for a chap playing with Kathryn Tickell. I believe it was copied from archaeological remains.
The sound was extraordinary and made the spine tingle. The tongue of the beast flapped as it was played.
