I can think of groups from roman to Afghanistan
I suggest you google

temple at war
operation bunker
military and flying machines


all have the later periods sewn up
everyday i can be an insignificant but unavoidable nuisance is a day well spent.

the Cobham household of the medieval siege society is very active in Essex, and train regularly at Weald Country Park
