Newbie looking for medieval Bristolians

Post by Savernake »

Hi,

I'm looking to join a living history group in the wider Bristol area (say between Gloucester, Swindon, Bath). I find all periods of history interesteting, but especially the later middle ages and the time around the reign of Richard II.

Are there any groups people can recommend? It would be good to talk to some of you about whats involved. I was hoping to have been able to meet some re-enactors at my local events (Berkeley Castle and Winterbourne) earlier in the year but they were cancelled due to the weather.

Any ideas and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Savernake

As Latheaxe says, we are just across the Severn, with members along the M4 corridor and further afield in Wales and England. We would be pleased to have a chat and if you would like to pm me we can exchange telephone numbers.

Kyngs Ordnance have a big Bristol contingent if you are into WOTR field artillery.
http://www.griffinhistorical.com. A delicious decadent historical trifle. Thick performance jelly topped with lashings of imaginative creamy custard. You may also get a soggy event management sponge finger but it won't cost you hundreds and thousands.

Hi Savernake:

We're based in the Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire areas although we do most of our events in South Wales.

Thanks for the continuing replies to my question. I didn't know there were so many groups with a presence in the Bristol area.

Whilst slightly later the company of chivilary option above is very good. I joined them about 9 months ago and they have been brilliant. Done so much to help me get in to the hobby and are very nice.

Thanks Brendan they were but we appear not to be what they are looking for ah well :(
There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.
