Looking for reenactment group

Hi

I'm a complete history nut and looking for a group to join. I'm very much interested ( and my friends would say obsessed) by the periods concerning the crusades although anything dark age to late medieval is great.
I'm based in a almost non existent town called Retford on Nottinghamshire South Yorks border (neither council likes to admit owning us haha!) But I also have weekly commutes to Lincoln, for University, which has nothing but spurred on my interest in all things historical.
Have one or two very eager friends who would also be interested in reenactment.

Any recommendations or information would be great.

Conroi De Vey do anglo-norman & anglo-saxon (as late as the second crusade) and are based in Nottinghamshire, both combat and living history.

These cheeky boys n gal's are into the Holy Orders of the Crusades and are proactively looking for Templars/ Lazarus/Jerusalem/Tutonic Knights and Sergeants for reasonable events and and down the country... word is... they like beer and pies !

Both societies concentrate more on the Angevin period of English history (mid to late 12th, early 13th century)

There's also the SCA- there's groups centred on Coventry and York. Multiperiod, of course, but certainly including both of the periods you're interested in.

The wonder of mixed interest reenactment groups is, your thing may be fighting, but someone else will be interested in brewing.... and others will be interested in period cooking. And the combination is especially satisfying

Plus its the variety of events - if you are just in the one timeline -- it gets a bit samey after 5 years !
Plus some bits and pieces are 'moveable' between timelines - so if you are clever - you can cut costs without cutting quality of presentation !

Yeah thats very true plus interests might change and you might be a dab hand at soemthing maybe you wouldnt expect.

Hi, we're a fairly small, early to mid 14th century group. We are looking to recruit new members if you fancied something a bit later than the Crusades. We're based around Bolsover, with members spread out through Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
