Smallest kit?!

Postby Annis » Thu Jun 07, 2007 10:35 am

I am NOT insane. Making costumes for your bear is completely *normal*.

This thread is where you can follow my joy of making a Tudor outfit for my bear.

Garment 1: coif. Pattern came from the Tudor Tailor. Pretty simple really, except I mis-read the instructions and half way through I had to start again. Finished it at 12am. Then couldn't get to sleep!

Image

Image

Garment 2: shift. Based on my own shift. Sizing done by drawing roud the bear's hoodie (you may see it in the background [turquoise, fluffy thing]) Made this morning. Bit too long, but not a major problem.

May start petticoat later.

Excellent! My kids regularly bring home "Barnaby Bear" from primary school, he has to come home for the weekend and the kids have to write a diary/provide photos of fun things they have done with Barnaby that weekend. It tends to turn into a competition for the parents to outdo each other and I find it incredibly dull and never bother so poor Barnaby ends up in the cupboard all weekend.

But.... next time we have him he will go into Vike kit and come with us, he can be killed in battle

hee hee, thanks for the comments.

Barnaby sounds as if he's going to have a fun time!

Right, here's some more.

Garment 3: Petticoat. Nice and simple - length of fabric pleated and sewn onto a tie (which is inaufentik BUT it does create less bulk)

I have altered the shift and made a start on the bodice - just need to alter it a little and add the eyelets and then the skirt.

I have Musket Mouse who travels to musters in my van. He used to have a brother but I shot him as an example, he's now spread all over Buckinghamshire.
Musket Mouse has a habit of wrecking my van when I'm drunk, and as result has to be driven over to teach him a lesson. He is popular with the girls until they realise where he's been.
Frankly he's a reject and deserves all he gets.

If any one else has "Problem Furry Friends" please send them to the next Lace Wars event I will happily send them to hell where they all belong.

My furry chums are now exceedingly green round the gills.

Don't seem to understand that I have to finish my Kentwell clothes (currently production line of shifts, then just headgear and loose gown to do)

Actually, it's not THAT fiddly and surprisingly quick, then again, it is about a million times smaller than the real thing!

Actually, I think it's more aufentick than my stuff :(

*tightens bodice*

When Bucket and I first started going out and he still lived in Wales he got New Recruit bear through the post, in coif, pourpoint, split hose (no braies...ooer) and with a cooking chopstick as a pokey pole.

(My friend sent me a bear with balls, on skis, but that's a totally different story. She's got a very practical sense of humour. :D )

There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.

We used to have a stuffed toy as the president of the Sci-Fi soc at Uni. One election night, some guys came in and announced that they'd been given this bag. Inside were a bread knife, many pieces of a well remebered stuffed hedgehog and a letter from the 'murderers'.

The Sci-Fi ellections took place in the middle of the Warwick bear festival for a reason...

One of our members has made a authentically dressed rag doll for her grandaughter to play with at shows. That's lovely.

I think that the armour for 'steve the stick' was taking it a bit far though... :D

Garment 4: the kirtle. Was dreading this bit, but turned out fine. First all in one (bodice and skirt attached) I have ever made!

Here she is kirtled up (ok, the skirt is so stiff [being very small etc] it holds itself up):
