I can picture the scene - pikeman with lard padded helmet, heats up in the stress of combat, lard melts running down over armour - first comport pike push and he heads upwards at speed from the midst of the scrum like a greased pip from an orange!!

I now have a terrific wool hat from Sally and am about to try and fit a spider. I'll have to glue it in unless I drill some holes for some lacing, I can't see that would weaken it, I've also thought of putting some padding above the spider but not sure what yet.

Put a small kitten above the spider. If you get hit in the helmet the sharp stabbing pain from the claws will stop you from loosing conciousness :P

i shall persist on this glorious path, for too long have the evil cute things destroyed peoples perceptions of the real damage they cause to furnishings and hangings.

i offer you a chance to return to the fold my son, repent the fluffy and the cute, hold fast that road kill is the least we can do for them, and that allthings fury are edible as well as warm to wear. so repent you, repent i say you lover of the cute and fluffy.

this is the last chance come and be turned to the spikey dark side............

I understand that the best panda fluff for helmet linings is that plucked hair by hair from around the eyelids, lips and ears - you know, not 'the painful bits', the really painful bits........

Has he upset you

There's a dead badger by the side of the road on the way to work, I wonder how that would work?

I think the best idea would be to get a very small Chav (they are all small due to diet) and tie them to the outside of the helmet. Not really the same as a dragon or a swan but needs must some times.

You'd need quite a large helmet to fit it in (unless it was pretty squashed in which case you would have the problem of bits of flattened badger acting as a neck cover and dripping down your back). You would also need a licence to own the said squashed badger as it is an offence under the Protection of Badgers Act to be in possession of 'a dead badger or any part of a dead badger' without the aforesaid licence.

Nope, I lurve Panda as I have seen his pictcha. He has long girly hair and is squidgy and full of youth - and while he may not be pure enough to be bled for one of my beauty baths, 1 per cent impurity is not bad in 'organic cosmetics'

I will let Panda off a pint if he plays spot the reference. No helping.

Getting back on subject
What do people think is better, dreilling holes in the helmet and lacing ina spider, or glueing one in?
I thought if I did the first the thong would be able to be seen from the outside but that would be OK.
Thoughts please.

dont lace through the holes as they will shere off. rivit a strip of leather in and sew to the leather makes it cheaper and easy to replace and clean when necessary.

panda fur is not soft enough for a cloak, but good for a tent rug.

Agreed, definitely the best bet, though a bit more work than lacing.

Well, it is NOT Elizabeth Arden, honey.

Bulk of donors was important, as was 'purity'.

I shall open this question for 5 points, gentlemen.

... and 'twas I that cut off the kitten's tail.

First 5 points to Mr Middleton. Answers and wild swingeing guesses by PM please until Panda googles the answer.

The kitten's tail is also a most useful cosmetic aid. No mice, you see. 2 points for a correct answer.

Is it Elizabeth Bathory? AKA Countess Dracula, as played by Ingrid Pitt in the Hammer Horror movie. Do I get my 5 points?

Might be - but that would be helping Panda now, wouldn't it?

5 points to you - but minus 6 points for throwing the clever film reference!

Firstly, did you use mild steel, brass or iron rivets? Where did you get them (maybe ebay)

Secondly I could use a baby panda, any idea how shock absorbent they are?
