Costumes for children

Postby SimonS » Mon Oct 30, 2006 2:14 pm

I am trying to find some tudor and Victorian costumes suitable for children to wear during school visits to my Museum. Definately need to favour robustness over absolute 100% authenticity, but they still have to be relatively accurate. Any suggestions?

Hi

I hire children's period costumes for school history days (including Victorian and Tudor) www.orchardhouselincoln.co.uk

Unfortunately, I am currently booked up for 12 months on film and museum projects, but I may be able to help in some capacity.

Thanks for the tip on Annie the Pedlar; I shall investigate.

Calico Cloth: basically I am looking for some fairly accurate, but very durable childrens outfits for about 1590; 2 x upper class and 2 x servant class. Also needed: 2 x 1830s childrens outfits, middle class. Cant be too expensive due to the numbers.

To anyone looking for Tudor kids clothes I've got 2 boxes of ex-Tudor reenactment kids clothes that need mending so are not on the website.
Its worth asking as I might have something suitable that can be quickly fixed or added to to tart it up.
They are usually sturdily made but have been lived in for a week or more so are not pristine. The gentry stuff has usually been better cared for as parents tend to whip that off their kids at end of 'play'.
