I'm currently planning a project where I'm going to make myself a 14thC ("Wisby-type") Coat of Plates. So far, I've sourced all the materials except the actual plates themselves. Does anyone have and advice of where's the best place to source that sort of thing?

This is the type of thing I'm planning on making: http://www.hoashantverk.se/hantverk/hoa ... index.html

Cheers!

if you are able:
buy some sheet steel, cut, drill, file and shape it.
most towns have a steel stock holder, unless you have suitable tools it will take time with DIY type of tools rather than proffesional stuff.
I would draw them using a cad prog and send them to the local laser cutters as a DXF file if it was me and then dish or bend as required to fit.
you may want to make card templates and cut them out by hand

I assume that you've visited the armour archives for some tips on this already.

Good luck

I have some plates that I can give you for a tenner, PM me if your intereted. You can have the whole coat of plates for that if you want just the fabric is really rubbish and you would need new buckles for it.
