Ye Olde Dulux Charts
Hallo,
I'm trying to make myself some new kit, I'm a footsoldier in the SK and I don't really know what dyes/colours are taboo. Having seen several sets of 'day-glo' hose and even a few luminous green feathers in caps in my time, I'd like to get my shades right before creating a scream-inducing botch job!
Does anyone have any links to lists or pictures of dyes or colours that were available in the C17th?
Cheers!

Period colours can be quite vibrant, not neccessarily colour or light fast though
The Peachy books are a good source of information as well as the soldiers clothing check out "Clothes of the Common Man 1580-1660"
For more instant gratification on the colours have a look at
http://www.renaissancedyeing.com/. There are many other similar sites, Google is your friend.

Haha, indeed no! Shamefully, I didn't know you existed until recently >.<
I just want to put more emphasis on my kit's authenticity, I'm in Regia as well and every time I go along the authenticity guys are just swamped with questions, and as far as I'm concerned being as authentic as possible is top of my agenda (I'm also an archaeologist/historian
