Real fur trading

Post by House of De Clifford »

Hi all, Dave and Miranda here from Cadmus Wines.
As most of you know, we have decided to move into the furrier trade. (sneek preview, Brother Eccles may well be back on the scene as Cadmus Wines !!) We are changing our trade name to House of De Clifford Furriers.
We will be trading at most shows this year beggining with NLHF.
Rabbit, Hare, Fox, ERMINE !!!! , Deer, Goat, Collecting some superb Red Stag Antlers this weekend from Scotland,Bone beads etc. etc. etc.
If you have any special requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to help.
We will also be at some shows as demonstrators showing how the tanning process was used during the medieval period and giving a history into the supply and usage of fur.
On the topic of using fur, there has been some discussion about authenticity, ethics etc.. can we just say that from a authentic point of view we will endevour to be as accurate as possible. from a ethical point of view, we try where possible to only use fur that has been made available as a bye product, where this is not possible, we do our homework and only use contacts that are respected for their ethical practices. There are certain types of fur we will not trade in and we never deal in anything that is considered protected or under threat.
At the NLHF, we hope to have a WIld Boar hide, Real horse hair and some hair on calf hides aswell. So hopefully we will cater for all periods, not just medjeeval. We can also get rawhide in sheets for use as drumskins or in strips, real Deer sinew ! and if you realy wanted one, a buffalow hide or two ! (Any american civil war re-enacters out there ??)
We are hoping to get our web site active soon aswell where you can order any items.
May we wish everyone a great season and look forward to seeing you all again at the events throughout the year.
Dave and Miranda

Elk hide is no problem. Mail us if you need anything in particular as we will be ordering soon for NLHF.
