Elizabethan hat suppliers

Postby Adam the Archer » Mon Jun 02, 2008 8:14 am

Hi all

I am looking for one of the tall hats (not sure what they are called) that Elizabethan gents are seen wearing, it is to go with my new posh kit. Any ideas of suppliers?

Adam

sugar loaf ?

There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.

Annie the Pedlar is also worth talking to as if she can't do it she can normally pass you onto the right person -

Hi,

If you want a hat like that then http://www.ska123.force9.co.uk/web_page_2/Untitled_6.html Catherine Delaney is the person to go to.

She made my husband Edmund's tall hat for Kentwell a couple of years back - you can see it in this picture: http://www.karen.htmlcreators.com/bristol07-1.jpg/- Edmund is the second person wearing a lovely Ninya Mikhaila doublet.

I have also bought a hat from Catherine - though I can't access the pictures of it. It is a "beret" style based on this portrait:
http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/BRGPOD/4255~Miniature-Portrait-of-Mrs-Pemberton-C-1535-Posters.jpg
In addition, she makes the hats for the Globe Theatre actors.

Catherine is definitely highly recommended.

All the best

Bess.

Hi Adam,

Yes, it is a lovely doublet and matching hose.

Now I am at home, I can access a better photo of it:
http://pics.livejournal.com/edmndclotworthy/pic/000gtzfx

The vertical "cording" is made by hand, padded and then whipped stitched into place. Its one of Edmund's favourites.

All made by Ninya Mikhaila.

All the best

Bess

Kittyhats www.kittyhats.co.uk do copotain style hats, no decent piccys on the website tho', I love my shaggy green fur felt one but it do tend to make me look like Mick the Marmaliser from the Diddymen.
Rachel of Crafty Beggars does a nice one too but I don't know how to contact them.
