To be fair, it's no worse than hollywood would use for reenactment. and the seller probably doesn't understand any difference between reenactment and Larp, and it would be a great larp outfit if you like that sort of thing.

Probably a bit small for me though.

Well, true, but that would be fairly accurate given some of the re-enactment costume that I've seen.

In that instance it would be us, the re-enactors at fault, not hollywood.

and as I said, not even remotely medieval in styling.

Looks rather like the disney princess dresses you can get actually, though in sweet wrapping material*

*though that said, a friend once made a pair of jeans out of crisp packets, and they were quite nice.

To be fair she is absolutely right.... it IS a re-enactment outfit - Sealed Knot 1978. I saw very many like it, only it is drab by comparison.

Amazing what you can do with yer gran's curtains.

imagine someone out there is probably really pleased with the great bargin they have just won. looking at the bidding history they seemed very determined too. lets hope its for a play or something!!

The skirt is suitable for re-enactment from the late Tudor period through to Victorian depending on the character you wish to protray.

Skirt and bolero. Bolero? Run that past me again, madam... Unless I'm re-enacting being an extra in 'Carmen'.... is there summat about Tudor/17thC I've been missing?

the hat isn't bad - but he could have taken more care with the pic - makes it look like a variation on carmen miranda

Until I read "the flowers are not part of the hat but in the background" bit I was convinced it was part of the hat and was trying to work it out...

DOH gels! Because everyone KNOWS that every other period in history, including the romans, had front split overdresses, sleeve flounces or bells and becuase they wore corsets ANY dress with visible lacing is correct.

The Husbynde finally took me to one side and explained ebay listings to me, as he couldn't bear any more exclamative hissings and tuttings. They don't necessarily think think these things ARE "roman - Sealed knot -starwars - communion robe" but the more common categories that get into the title, the more searches the garment will be listed on and therefore the wider pool of buyers.

1) I have never understood just how a V8888al speculum has qualified as re-enactment kit (no really, not just floggers and gimp masks).

2) I still tut and hiss at inept descriptions / catch all sales pitches. Sometimes I now groan and whine too, so the explanation didn't do any good.
