Norman Kit

Post by Brendan_the_lesser »

Okay looking to do Norman Kit properly, late 12th century (invasion of Ireland 1171 most probably) lesser nobility.

Know what kind of arms and armour i need (roughly) and i won't be able to afford all of that for a while (i'm a poor student), so mostly i wanna know about soft kit, if people can show me pictures of their kit, rather then diagrams (cos i get really confused) that'd be a big help...

Thanks!
If anyone needs me i'll be spinning in my grave...

There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.

Although its just a normal commissar, I believe as Yarrik has a bionic eye.
Slowly realizing just how far is still to go.

Ya a random commissar, just liked the pic.

Anyway, Borrowed an Osprey book on Normans, i know they can be unreliable so anyone know anything to look out for in this, anything less then accurate?

Also what kinda headgear was being worn during this period, have only seen arming cap style ones so far....

I would say in general that it depends on the author. Anything written by David Nicolle for example is generally gold.

The pictures are the main problem. Check the bit you look at in the back for the actual sources. The artist sometimes (read always) gets bored and decides to add random junk to fill in blank bits.
