Tudor women's gowns ?

Post by valen »

After watching 'The Tudors' on telly, my wife has a hankering for something "Fabulous" (not the capital F) in that style. Probably for banquet wear, rather than actual events where it has to be super authentic.

This despite me saying 'Er, no kings wouldn't wear sleeveless pigskin jerkins, I'm pretty sure' about the costume design on the series.

Anyway. Can anyone recommend a good dressmaker who specialises in such things ? Someone with a website & a few photos would be fabulous. If said dressmaker gives me an excuse to go to the Original Reenactor's Market, all the better.

The ultimate person for all things Tudor is Ninya Mikhaila who is one of the co-authors of The Tudor Tailor. She normally has a stall at TORM. :D
aka Thomasin Chedzoy, Tailor at Kentwell Hall

I don't think there sia nything Tudor that youar e looking for BUT there is is a agood representative sample
There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.

I've nothing Tudor on my website yet - apart from a pair of stays - but I'm looking to expand my repertoire...

Won't be at TORM though - bit of a trek and I haven't asked if I can have a stall - not enough stock yet...
currently available for costume and corset commissions mail me on janes.wardrobe@gmail.com

Maybe you need to get hold of a copy of 'The Garter, the directory that supports costuming'. There are loads of costume-makers in there. £10 per copy from the editor at the NLHF or £12.50 by post.
