web hosting

Postby busy mole » Sat Jun 02, 2007 10:33 am

Does any one have experience of 123-reg as domain hosts?

My website is down cannot get through to them more than an hour and a half at 10p per min, no answer.
Have E-Mailed nor response.
If any of you have your websites with 123 reg might be worth checking them.

Just spent out on advertising and now the website is down?

Did not realize the power of this forum. Having just posted the previous post and wandered off for a moan and to get the credit card to transfer to another domain then the site comes back.
Hooray! we exist again!

Must tell Cal the power the has without realizing it!

See how long we stay on now.
If any one is feeling kind just give out link a click and if it is not there let us know please. Sudden loss of confidence in our Hosting Company

Hi Moles,

I moved from 123's hosting after it became pipex and went downhill, with lousy service and support.

Quite pleased with the folk I'm with now, IX Webhosting - in Florida.

They even made the transfer quick and simple for me to manage by myself.

Best wishes
David

I'm with 123-reg and have been lucky so far, but the support is truly awful and they are attracting a lot of negative comments generally across forums at the moment.

They did not even send me a reminder about my soon-to-expire domain registration! Good job I put it in Calender.

The control panel they give you is pretty good but you are on your own if you want anything else. :(

I have sent 123 several E-Mails about the problems I had, note -I hope had rather than have!- Only automated responses, the support service is bad, I tried to call again on the saturday, the opening hours were 9.00 am until 5:30 pm , I called at 9:00and got a message saying that "due to an unprecedented number of calls the wait time was in excess of 25 minutes".the same message as on the Friday night. I seriously wonder if anyone was there at all?. Now I have had the site back and can access the stats page I see the site was down for a full week, at abot the worst time as I had spent out on adverts that week!

Have asked them about the reasons for it being down, guess what No answer as yet!

Think I will move when I re do the site.

I'd deffinately move

Mine is with Webage but they are a bit pricy so we will be moving to Orpheus where OH webpage is. Not had any problems with either and they are really good with the support - especially since they have to deal with me

Hi Busymole :)

I've been with http://www.wiserhosting.com/ for the last 5 or so years, they are real people who are SO helpful - I am a real beginner when it comes to web hosting, design etc and they rang me back within half an hour of my leaving a message on their answer phone because I couldn't remember or figure out how to upload a revised copy of my website The nice man I spoke to talked me through it step by step, over the phone, through all the password stages & explained what FTP was & how to find the bits I needed to automate the process using the very basic software package that I use to design my site.

Costs me £25 a year. I did tell him I thought I'd just cost them more than that in the phone call to me!

Because I still haven't figured out how to link outlook express or similar to pick up my emails from their server, I log in directly, & this is quite a long process, about 6 steps, but this means that I can access all my current & old work emails from any computer, handy recently when I've been away from home on & off for the last two months.

I'm certainly going to use them again for the next site I make. They do have downtime occasionally, but they send out an email telling when & why this is. I think they are great for small business users.

I buy the site addresses from 123-reg & then set it up with wiser hosting, they are easy to configure together.

Good luck! You don't have to wait till your renewal date, you should be able to just point your website id to the hosting IP address, they will give you a step by step way of doing this when you sign up.

Kate the technological...!
