new trade show - Historia Originata, May

Post by Montsegur »

HISTORIA ORIGINATA

This is a new show at The Swallow Hotel, London Road, Carlisle on the first May Bank Holiday ~ May 1-2, 2010

This will be a high quality event featuring the best historic traders and marketed to re-enactors and museum professionals across northern England, Scotland and Ireland - many of whom do not/cannot travel to the main shows. We also expect some members of the public.

It is set in a historic city with excellent transport links, and being hotel-based there are special accommodation rates, plus the use of on-site leisure facilities. An ideal way to spend Bank Holiday weekend - and with no issues about driving to a hotel after trading. Carlisle, obviously, has plenty of good hotels, restaurants, pubs and night life.

This exciting new event is organised by the successful team behind Scotland’s Festival of History, in association with well-known respected, established historic traders.

This is your chance to be in at the begining of something new, something big .

There are a limited number of competitively priced pitches available ~ plus good on-site hotel rates so you don't have to travel each night!

Trading inquiries – George Topp at 07920504901, or historiaoriginata@hotmail.co.uk

The show is open to the public from 10am – 5pm daily

The show is looking good, with lots of positive feedback from re-enactors in the north especially.

And the first bookings include Bernie the Bolt, Tillerman Beads, A Piece of History and Ancient Battlecrafts.

The hotel is easy to find and are offering good deals on accommodation compared to normal.

It's also encouraging that re-enactors have been in touch asking if they can stay at the hotel, and get the cut price deal as well.

The answer to that question is yes - so it looks like being a real social weekend too.

Glad to be included in the show.

Won't swim though, last time I appeared in a black swimsuit, half the membership of Greenpeace appeared, trying to roll me back into the water!

Ok. Sauna, it's my favourite; can't stand steam rooms, too much like Indiana in the summer. We used to have a sauna in the basement of our house, and loads of snow for the 'running outside like an idiot in -40F weather' part. Can we skip the snow?

There's been a very good response from groups in the north of England, Scotland and Ireland - with many taking advantage of this being a Bank Holiday and staying the weekend in historic Carlisle.

Amongst the traders already confirmed are -
Bernie the Bolt
A Piece of History
Armourclass
Ancient Battle Crafts
Time Warrior
Tillerman Beads
Gothic Green Oak
House de Clifford
House of Freyja
Roo the Leathercarver
Badgersett Historical
Sarah Thursfield
6of1

Historia Originata, The Swallow Hotel, Carlisle - May 1+2 (Bank Holiday). Space is bookable in 6x6ft sections - book the number you require.
There is still some space left - but it is limited. This is a new show, run by re-enactors and traders, and held within the large function suite of a hotel, so it is comfortable and warm, with all facilities - and just a short walk to bed........

Set up instructions have been sent out this weekend so if you have not received yours please let me know ASAP.

There is a good mix of traders - covering just about everything - and there's been a good response from our marketing.

Those that we know about :
One group has switched the location and date of their agm just to be in Carlisle that weekend - others are coming from Ireland and the north of Scotland.
We've marketed the show to every museum etc in Cumbria/Northumberland and Scotland and had a good response from them too.
And Cumbria's main daily newspaper has done a two page colour centre spread so there will probably be more than normal numbers of MOPS.

The hall is more or less full, but we do have a contingency if anyone decides they fancy a Bank Holiday break away and wants a last minute space

Hi all,
Sorry about this but due to unforseen vehicular troubles, we will not be able to attend this event. Our appologies to anyone expecting to see us at what promises to be an exciting new market.

And a fab time was had by all  . Massive thanks to George for being a brilliant manager and worked his socks off, this will most definitely be back on next year same venue(fawlty towers) but different date to accommodate groups who wanted to come but had events, which was my fault because I picked the date.

Only downside was the pool party had to be cancelled because the pool closed at 6pm :( and we still had a roman group who came after their event had finished, shopping at 8pm :D
