New Trading Opportunity - with Camping!

Post by david smith »

The New Market September 18th & 19th 2010

The venue has facilities for 2,000+ campers plus water, electricity and proper toilets. Stratford Armouries, Gospel Oak Lane, Pathlow, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire CV37 0JA http://www.stratfordarmouries.co.uk/

Just off the M40 at J15 to the north of Stratford-upon-Avon, good location. Most traders have their own tents, which provide them exactly what they need to display and sell their wares as well as being somewhere to stay unless they prefer their caravan, back of the van, etc.

The venue has 95 acres of available land, So when looking for a venue to provide for an annual early autumn re-enactors market the important thing was not indoor space, which is expensive to hire and would mean high pitch fees for traders, but to find somewhere that had outdoor space plus some facilities.

We will have the benefit of the Trollsbottom Bar, another plus, and we will be able to arrange good quality fairly priced caterers – or traders can do their own thing, as they will have all of their usual camping equipment on hand.

Pitch fees will be just £50, and there is a guarantee of no price increase for at least 3 years. The Market will be third weekend in September every year, so you can plan ahead with certainty. That time of year can still be warm and pleasant, although you’ll appreciate that we can make no promises about the weather!

The Market will be a Saturday and Sunday market, so no worries about time off work for those with proper jobs or other commitments.
There will be no daft cut-off time for setting up, if you are delayed and can’t get there until 3pm on the Saturday, no problem. We’ll help you get to a suitable spot, and you can get on and set up. However, we’ll arrange that you can arrive on the Friday between 12 noon and 12 midnight, so that you can get a full two days of trading in even if you have to travel late on the Friday.

And, not only can traders camp on site, so can the re-enactors, who will be welcome to arrive on the Friday evening so they can enjoy some of Laurie’s finest. And they’ll pay just one entry and camping fee for the whole weekend! So they will also have more money in their pockets to spend with the traders, rather than having to spend it on bed and breakfast. The availability of camping will help attract re-enactors from a wider catchment area, as it is keeping their costs down and is also a great opportunity for a social as well.

The existing markets are at full capacity now, so there is proven demand not just for new traders wanting to enter the market, but for established traders wanting bigger stands. They can also be claustrophobic when busy – this will not be an issue at Stratford!

Best wishes
David & Laurie
