There is currently a big re-development at one of Luton’s museums – Stockwood Park Discovery Centre due to re-open in July 2008. There is a ‘craft courtyard’ at the museum, and units here will be available to let.
The Craft Courtyard consists of six linked single storey brick outbuildings attached to the Discovery Centre complex. They are accessible both from the Period Gardens and the Discovery Garden, which form part of the complex, and directly from Stockwood Park itself. There is good delivery access, but no dedicated car parking. Car parking is however available close by in the park. The buildings form a small walled quadrangle which included a pleasant garden & seating area. All units have water and separately metered electricity connections. There is no gas supply. Toilet facilities are provided within the Discovery centre complex.
The units have been vacant for some time and will be brought back into operation as part of the Discovery centre development.
Units range in size and facilities (some are workshop-only, some include separate store rooms and display areas.
In addition to all of this, within the Discovery Centre itself, the intention is to re-open the forge in the smithy as a working unit, so if there are any metalworkers or farriers looking for premises, this could be of interest.
If anyone is interested in letting a unit, do PM me and I shall put you in touch with the project manager (or send more details of the unit sizes).
