Food and Drink Fayre at Bolsover Castle on 20th and 21st May.
Always very good with plenty to taste, although I seemed to spend a lot of time eating fruit and marshmallow kebabs covered in melted chocolate from the 'Chocolate Fountain' - dunno why

Brecon was good,great reception,everyone liked our stuff,unfortunatly it clashed with the rugby and in wales that is the death knell for anything else thats on LOL
Saying that we still took £200 which,if that was crap (according to the other traders) thats fine by us,the markets etc will be our breadn butter money and use shows n festivals to make money to buy more equipment etc

OOOH been chattin to smiffy about a "food court style tent",how cool would it be to have a tent for people who want to suppliment their hobby by spending all day friday baking aufentic breads/cakes or the flogging xtra veggies from their garden aufentic sweets for instance ? LH camp kitchens with real MUDDY veg that tastes of veg,aufentic fresh baked bread ,it would also centre all the food ,pickles and relishs,jerky,etc etc in one area so a pickles n relish stall aint inbetween two armourers for instance

thoughts ?

Ealing farmers market... every Sat morning... it is a good one.
Newbury every third Sunday of the month. I never remember when it is on and inevatably find I am away at some event when it is on...

As for a food court... good general idea. My only thought / problem might be all the H&S, food hygine issues that could come up with 'camp' cooked / home produce etc...

quite a few oop north-regular monthly one in South Cave, East Yorks, even Halifax has one think monthly....oh and of course if I were you Martin definitely attend both the Nottingham Goose Fair and the York Christmas Market- the attendance at those events is unreal and so would your sales!

The idea of a food court like that would be absolutely fab! In terms of selling home baked stuff, how does the WI and stuff get round the H&S stuff, as all their stuff is home done and they sell it at their markets without a problem.

Going shopping for orthentitch goodies like that is a marvellous prospect!

fraid you need to get yourself a food safety standards certificate and also get your premises inspected-includes all that crap about having seperate food prep areas for raw and cooked meats etc etc, washing facilities and so on. OK so we do need some health and safety to some degree but its just got silly.

If so thats one of my mothers muckers-Mary-heck if we'd sent Mary and all the women like her in the villages around the UK Hitler would have never even contemplated picking a fight with us!

In East Yorkshire there is a farmer's market in Driffield (Driffield showground) 1st Saturday in the month, South Cave is 2nd Saturday, there is one on the third Saturday but can't remember where and I think Mkt Weighton is last Saturday. Only been to the Driffield one and always but fantastic goats cheese etc.

Not to put Mart's snoot out of joint now he's a big cheese(monger), but if you see a cheese called The Lightwood Chaser at the farmer's market, try it. It is soft and strong...but not loopaper.It's lush!

Moosie... the WI gets round it, by having all who cook, requiring a minimun of a food hygine certificate... which is renewed (I think) every three years. We also can suffer checks on our home kitchens, by inspectors and have to adheare to quite strict rules as to what we can and cannot use in our cooking... as well as declaring ingrediants, possible allergens etc... It is actually quite complex and invasive.

fantastic sunday dinner, well stocked home brewed ales & it made me wonder if you have thought of approaching Welsh free houses to stock your jerky? I don't know if this pub would be approachable, the landlady was nice but fierce, if you know what I mean?!

Anyway, if you ever want any translations doing into welsh for labels, my Mum-in-Law is good at Welsh language translation (she knows the proper way to write things & translates at the National Eistedford, which I can't even spell...)
