I know that a lot of you do these, so what about letting people know about your best recipes?
I'll kick off with Smoked chilli vodka
2 of Martin's smoked chillis, place in a 1/4 bottle of vodka, leave for 2 weeks. Freeze, drink neat in small shots in frozen glasses.

2 Tablespoons of Black Peppercorns (whole)
1/4 bottle Vodka
Get other people to drink...

Garlic voddie is good also.....2 or three cloves done simmilar to Cats receipe.
Empty about a 1/4 out of a bottle of gin (hic), top up with Sloes (prick 'em with a needle a few times each), add about 2 tble spoons of sugar. Leave in the back of a cupboard, shaking it now and then, for a few months.
Same thing works for Damsons but they dont fit in the bottle so you'll have to decant it out to jam jars or whatever. You can get away with less sugar with Damsons as they arnt so sharp.....

We made a few flavoured drinkys a few years ago, some cherry brandy, some sloe vodka, and something else which I can't remember now
all made in a similar way to DomT's sloe gin.
Very nice too

I haven't done this for years but good liquorice desolved in vodka is great - and it's black.
Cherries soaked in vodka make great cherry vodka and the cherries are fantstic too.

I make several flavoured gins. Sloe and damson obviously. Tried blackberry which was a complete disaster as was peach. But raspberry was a triumph. Up to 8oz of raspeberries and a cupful of sugar to each bottle of gin - scrummy. A friend makes quince wine which is also superb.

Got several bottles of sloe gin and sloe vodka on the go. They must be lethal by now!

Tried dissolving some of martin's chilli toffee in vodka; not a huge success, it dissolves lovely but floats on top of the vodka looking unhappy. b**ger!
Vanilla- one pod, seeds scraped out in a 1/4 bottle, leave for a few weeks. No need to sweeten. Shake to drink to make sure each glass gets a good sprinkling of seeds.
Saffron- pinch of threads in a 1/4 bottle, when its as yellow as it'll go sweeten to taste. I really like this one.

One of my favourite ones is 'Hunter's vodka', not sure of exactly what's in it but includes ginger, juniper and cloves. Next time I find a bottle I'll make sure to note down what's in it and let you know. It really tastes of Christmas.
Agree with Peril about Lady C's vodka cherries, though maybe it's modesty that stopped her mentioning her own citrus concoction from last summer - stonking.
Have also had horseradish vodka
which was nowhere near as bad as it sounds and cleared my sinuses out a treat!
Will ask around at work see if anyone's got any family recipes.

Ah Tartov! I was just going to mention the bottles of flavoured vodka I bought back from Moscow in 1988! My favouite had a chicken on the front and was flavoured with honey, a lovely golden colour

We have (had) a vodka bar, yes in Sunny Ipswich! best one I had was black jack vodka, oh and mars bar vodka.

Kate, The hunter's vodka has got a rooster on the front and I think has got honey in it, along with everything else. Wonder if it could've been that one. Though there are quite a few honey ones around.
Cranberry vodka seems to be very popular too.
What did you think of Moscow when you came? I know things were very different then.

Jelly baby vodka is great, but don't put the black ones in as they turn it a horrid colour. I've served this in the bar, with a fresh jelly baby in the bottom of the shot glass.
I've done garlic, but I went a bit OTT with that. Two bulbs went in there as opposed to two cloves.
Of the commercial brands I like Stolichnaya vanilla, & raspberry. but the orange isn't so nice. Stolnaya Bison grass is nice & there is a Bilberry one that is not unlike port.

Making Gooseberry and Vanilla wine at the moment.
Boil Goosegogs for a bit, with Vanilla pod in.
Add sugar, 1/2 a small bag. Strain thrown in a demi-john, throw the vanilla pod in after, add yeast.
I'll let you know how it turns out. Damson wine was great, Nectarine and Rasberry turned into a rather nice blush and Bannana was almost a mead....

Peel an unwaxed lemon, drop the peel in your bottle of vodka, leave a week, hey presto, the best deep yellow lemon scented vodka.

I've made strawberry gin -n don't laugh it works! Just cut strawbs in half and pop in bottle of gin, add sugar to suit, pop top back on and shake, leave for couple of months and then WOW......

that is one of the reasons why I love you.

I did that to mask the horrible flavour of Absolut Blackcurrant. I thought it was going to be a nice blackcurrant vodka, but it was too sickly, so I vainly tried to mask the flavour with lemons and even ginger, no real improvement so had to mix with loads of fruit juice so as not to waste the ethanol.

somebody i know was talking about sherbert lemon vodka. Anybody tried it yet?
Also, how do you make marsbar vodka? Does it dissolve in the vodka?

cat apparently the mars bars do, I saw it once on tv that they had to whizz it up in a blender first to get it going.
Likewise with the black jacks or fruit salads but that was to quicken the process.
Now pear drops vodka.....mmmm there's a fort.

I'll stick to the spiced honey vodka. Jorge, Pete The Pong and a few other regulars have tried it in the past. Some even survived the experience!
The latest batch has so many cloves that it leaves you tounge numb!

'Survive' is one of those odd words that doesn't always convey a complete recovery though does it?
Anyway I may have found a trustworthy soul to take you up on the very generous offer you made recently need to know where you will be so as to pass it on.

hmmm ok maybe I'll have to give it a go -after all if so many of you have had it already....it just sounds awful though....
