Cherries

Postby Grania » Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:21 pm

My group are doing a Georgian picnic at Stowe gardens on the 18th, and we've been asked to bring what suitable food we can.

Now, at home we've just had a serious glut of cherries - in about an hour this evening 3 washing up bowls and climbing - and I was wondering, are there any recipes for cherries pre-1740 that will keep for a couple of week. My brain is saying jam, as that's what we'll probably do with the rest, but being completely ignorant about cookery I've no idea.

I realise that post makes very little sense  but has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
G

Cherry pie, cherry tart, cherry wine I'm sure the Mob will enjoy it all. PM me and I'll send you some recipes. It'll help to make sure we don't double up.
