  Reminds me of the multi-period that we used to do at Bolsover - I found some photos the other day of us kidnapping Germans and using them as a target for the archery   (then more pictures of us getting drunk with them later on!) Ahh.... fun days :D
None of the ideas expressed above are really mine. I get them from Luthor and Ferdinand, the five inch tall space aliens who live under my desk. In return for these ideas, I have given them permission to eat any dust bunnies they may find under there.

Cool - didn't realise it was you Panzerman  I'll have to see if I can scan the photo in :P Do you remember when the official English Heritage people got all upset about people riding round on the motor bike and sidecar in the evening? I think she was even more disturbed when she stopped us playing on that and then someone started up the tank

English Heritage (tagline: Rewriting History for a Better Britain!) were very good at getting upset about things. It wasn't so much the nice lady as the whitehaired madman who oversaw things(erm - micromanaged!)

As I recall it was at Bolsover where we invented the venerable contest known as "egg jousting" Another 20thC meets 14thC pastime.

Two motorcycle combis (that's with a sidecar to the uninitiated) were positioned at opposite ends of the path. Each machine had a rider/driver, a gunner/sidecar occupant and a target /pillion passenger. Each man wore the customary rubber coat as protection plus goggles and a stelhelmet.
The two protagonists drove towards each other at great speed, passing on the left. The gunner was armed with six rounds of ammo in the form of half a dozen eggs. The aim was to score on the pillion who did his best to hide behind the driver.
Three passes were made and the greatest number of hits was deemed the winner.....
I seem to remember I cheated and took 15 eggs with me!!!! We also turned round halfway and proceeded to chase the hapless adversary who took several hits to the legs, ar5e and back!!!!! I've never played fair!!!!

But boy was it firkling funny!!!! THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

English Heritage can be real killjoys but I guess they worry in case they lose their job? Anyway....sounds like fun!
Infamy, infamy, infamy they've all got it in for me...
