World War 2 Photo? - Can anyone help?

Postby Rowanoak » Tue Aug 20, 2013 10:33 pm

Hi Everyone,

I found this photo of my grandfather a while ago and I've always wondered about the uniform he's wearing. I thought it might be home guard as I don't think he fought in the 2nd World War. Just wondering if anyone would know what it is or where I can find out some info about it.

Many Thanks
Lynda :)

Definitely looks cavalry, but I suspect that his might be a First rather than Second World War photo because it looks like he is in service dress rather than battledress. I believe that service dress was worn during the start of WW2, but only as a ceremonial uniform and he wouldn't have been wearing his bandolier with that. Do you have a close up of the cap badge? I'm not an expert on them but I'm sure that somebody will be able to find you the regiment that he was in from that.

I think it was all answered on the duplicate post. Bit confusing.
