Maille sabatons

Postby fh28 » Fri Jun 06, 2014 8:46 am

Thinking about making a pair of maille sabatons, have plenty of off cuts of maille just wondering really how the best way to go about it? Provisionally thought I'd attach the maille to a softish piece of leather and attach straps so I could fasten around my foot. Not being the handyman myself best thought I'd ask!

Cheers

depends on what period you are wanting to do them for. !5th cent italian type are usually pointed at the toes and fixed elsewhere by stitching and straps.

and they need a fair bit of tailoring to get them to be comfortable. Just putting on a rough foot shaped scrap will not be great.
