Battle of Evesham 2015??

Hi, we are looking to arrange a large two-day event in August 2015 to mark the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Evesham. Do you have an interest in this era? Would your household/group be interested in being involved? Are you or do you know traditional skills demonstrators / craftsmen and women / entertainers who might also be interested? The Battle of Evesham was one of two significant battles fought in the Baron’s war siting an important period in English history (1265). In 2015 it will be the 750th anniversary of the Battle and a historic landmark for Evesham and the surrounding areas. The battle was fought between King Henry III and the Barons led by Simon DeMontfort who was outnumbered and killed during the battle.

The event will be a two day festival that includes the Battle of Evesham re-enactment plus other medieval style events and services to take place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2015.

The whole event will take place on the Crown and Corporate Meadows and Riverside in Evesham 11am-late on the Saturday and 11am – 6pm on the Sunday (unconfirmed). It aims to include:

· The Battle Re-enactment

· A Re-enactors parking and camping area (private)

· Public parking and access

· An events programme including demonstrations and activities for children, such as

o Fire performers, acrobats, stilt walkers

o Archery, sword fighting, falconry demonstrations involving the public

o Farming the medieval way involving the public

o Historical talks / presentations and exhibition

o Jousting display

o Other similar

· Food and beverage

o An ale and cider tent with live music

o Regular bar

o Tea / coffee café

o Caterers - burgers, drinks, icecream, crepes, hog roast – vans etc (regular event traders)

· Entertainment

o Live music bands

o Dancing

· Medieval village

o Authentic camping village by the re-enactors including being in costume and displaying medieval living skills

· Craft and wares village

o Traders stalls

o Farmers stalls

· Site office and team station (comms HQ, café for staff, central point of contact etc)
