Hi everyone
I portray a welsh levy man and was simply wondering if there
is any historical differences between the typical dress of the english soldiers
(common to most WOTRF event) and the Welsh at this time?

Been looking for something specific to portray for a while (rather than just a generic soldier)
Just interesting if anyone had come up with/knew anything.
Cheers

You're just not going to let it lie are you? And your man is never going to know what the Hei you're on about.
My gut feeling would be that unless you're going to run around half naked with a bloody big knife cutting the heads of French peasents you'll look the same as everyone else.

I've seen pictures of Welsh archers only wearing one shoe, and only one of their hose leaving their leg and foot bare for some reason. Have heard mention of wearing a red shirt and/or a knee length red cloak, the spearmen and soldiers using a round shield painted red or white and blue, don't know how accurate that is, but it would certainly make you stand out, albeit with a very cold foot in the winter.

Cheers for all the replies it was just out of interest really, but if the consensus is that there wouldn't have been much difference fair enough.
I shall continue my research

I have an idea of the Welsh having a slightly different style in the High Middle Ages. I think by the 15th C, they're probably looking much like everyone else (though possibly a bit out of date on the fashion front).

Just a thought but seeing as how most Welsh fighting men served within the English army post 1290, why would they look any different? The only reference to the contrary that is reliable is pre conquest and describes them as bare foot rascals but i think this is probably intended mare as an insult than fact.
