Having made three rope sprung beds,I just used standard mortice and tenon joints and when threaded up,the rope holds the whole thing together and,when unthreaded the whole thing flatpacks.By extending the tenons it is possible to fit them through legs as well and half joint the legs to the side rails.
We sleep on a futon and have a feather topper which is are both about 2" thick,sheets,eiderdown,bolster and pillows and have yet to be cold in bed. After a couple of days the ropes need to be retightened as they stretch or you have some fairly serious roll together.
