Battle of Grunwald/Zilgaris/Tannenberg

Postby Avalon Adam » Sun Mar 07, 2010 2:39 pm

Is any one from the UK planning on going to the Battle of Grunwald/Zilgaris/Tannenberg in Poland this year, or does anyone know how to get in contact with an english speaking organiser?

Thanks

There is the official site of the event but it is not working just now. It says, "sorry, the service is temporarily unavailable".

I wouldn't go near the field there if you paid me - it's a bit tasty. Hospitalisation "tasty".

Excellent video! All that clank!!!
Can you imagine that event being over here though, the Fun Police would have a total and absolute apoplectic fit!! Closely followed by several heart attacks and an ulcer!!! LOL!!
I would have like to have gone just to wander around the camp! Like those wagons especially.

Well folks, I hope those of you who went had success and and good time. My experiences with teh organisers were to say disappointing in the least. despite me applying before the cut off date on their website, their main organiser said I was out of time but if I sent pictures of myself in kit he would consider me . I duely did so , and I can say my battle kit and soft kit looks very authentic as i portray a Lithuanian Warrior. i contacted him several times before I gave up and contacted a Polish friend who was going wih her society. She put me onto another organiser who required me to do the same as before, and yes, you guessed it , no contcat after his second email.
If any british re-enactor treated Polish like I was treated , i would be very ashamed. I hear now that even the Lithuaian re-enactors don't attend Grunwald despite their historical connection to the battle due to the general arrogance of the Polish organisers. Must Poles Ive met have been great people who care deeply about their re-enactment.
Does anyone else have experiences like this or completely different to share?

One was called Rey and the other I can't remember. I'll trawl through my sent emails and let you know. Both asked for pics of me in kit . As I potray an eastern 15th C man at arms in my group Im very confident my kit is of a high authentic standard so I doubt it could be because I looked like a complete Farb.

I know Rey for about 4 years and I really do not know why this happened. Just to show that the list of groups, which take part in battle http://www.grunwald1410.pl/index.php?art=10002 and I found at least 4 Varingis, Mysteria Mundi and two others groups with out names. Aslo there was a Lithuanian prime minister at pageant.
