Re: Elizabeth Wydeville:the Slandered Queen.

Thiss book isn't a total whitewash - just the next best thing. Okerlund obviously really wants to rehabilitate Lizzie W from the foul slurs heaped upon her by Ricardian fanatics past and present - but to me she seriously over-eggs the pudding. There's a serious lack of objectivity, which might be ex...

... is there provenance for them during the WoTR? We have two members for whom a square tent would be ideal for mobility reasons. All advice welcomed.

Jack -I've also got a copy somewhere, but if you wanted your own you could do worse than talk direct to the Royal Armouries Library. Stuart Ivison (who posts on this forum) is an assistant librarian there and he may be able to get you a photocopy.

Re: Asians in C15 England

There was descrimination but it didn't always follow race or colour. Lowlander Scots hated Highlander Scots and they all hated Borderers but they could agree that so,metimes they hated the Irish and English more. Venetians hated Genoa, Pisians those from Florence, Milan hated Savoy, florence Rome, ...

Asians in C15 England

My group has a potential new member in a 23 year old Indian woman. She's a colleague of my wife's and is extremely interested in C15 English history, especially the WoTR. I have no reservations at all about her joining the group. The issue I do have is finding a role for her that either takes into a...

You could ask the local WOTR re-enactment group (Burgh's Retinue) if they'd be willing to help.

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire

Excellent. I knew about the pilot episode, but I understood there was some doubt as to whether they'd progress much further. As ever, budget was rumoured to be the reason. I know HBO are doing it, but apparently there is a need for BBC support as well. Either way, it's good they've finally done it. ...

Wondered if any of you out there were fans of this series by George RR Martin. Filming recently finished on a pilot episode - the cast list includes Sean Bean and Jennifer Ehle.

Richard III - The Maligned King - Annette Carson

Just taken delivery of this and and I'm already impressed. Books about Richard seem to fall into one of two categories: 1. Saint Richard 2. Evil child murdering hunchbank Or like Paul Murray Kendall make the mistake of writing as if they (the author) were actual eye-witnesses. So far Annette Carson ...

There were some very good ones at Kelmarsh owned by people in L&M plus Dr Timothy Dawson of the Byzantine Royal palace Guard group. He had made ...

U-turn

by the Met-Office on weather... Seems as if they have finally admitted what most people have alrteady realised, that weather systems are simply too chaotic and unpredictable to forecast more than a day or two ahead.

That said, it seems pretty dismal for the forseeable future.
