These will ship from New Zealand via Air Mail at cost, which is fairly reasonable. I'm happy to combine shipping on these, as well as with the other books I'm l...

Re: For Sale: Stunning White Rose Armoury open-faced sallet

Here's the bevor from Mark Bevor / St George Armoury. This one is blued, and looks better than in my pics. It also features Mark's maker's stamp. Mark added a strap and buckle, as well as a leather liner, pre-punched with holes so you can add a padded liner. Price is US$100 for the bevor, which I'm ...

SOLD: Raised Francois L’Archeveque visored sallet

This gorgeous sallet by François L’Archeveque has a skull raised from 16 ga mild steel (so will therefore be thicker due to raising), with a riveted tail. This form can be seen in both period art and some extant examples. One of the photos below shows the internal dimensions before François installe...

SOLD: Stunning White Rose Armoury open-faced sallet

This stunning open-faced was made by David Hewitt, master armourer at White Rose Armoury in the UK. This sallet has never been used and is near new. The proportions of this one are beautiful, and the medial ridge is graceful and well defined. The sallet is brilliantly blued and polished, though curr...

SOLD: Francois L’Archeveque visored sallet

This oh-so-sweet visored sallet was made by one of the masters of the form, François L’Archeveque. The welded skull is 12ga mile steel, with the tail and visor of 14ga. The lines and form of this one is georgeous, with complex curvature executed flawlessly … in my experience, François is one of only...

SOLD: Plessis Armouries sallet

This sallet was made by Plessis Armouries in England. The form is of a shorter tail (commonly referred to as ‘Italian’ or ‘Italian export’, but also commonly-seen in German-made armour) with a fairly deep body, as in some of the later-period painted sallets. The sallet features red leather lining on...

SOLD: Edward Fox sallet

This sallet was made by the English armourer Edward Fox. The form features a slightly downswept, then upswept tail. This isn’t commonly-seen in extant historical examples, but can be seen in many examples of period artwork. While it looks at first a little quirky compared with standard ‘German’ / so...

Any reflections on Plessis Armouries?

Does anyone have any opinions, reflections, or experiences with Plessis Armouries / Kevin Legg (http://www.plessisarmouries.co.uk/)? Specifically, I'm interested in the quality and expected longevity of their work and historical accuracy, but can't find much here about them. If you have any response...

Which forum for opinions on an armourer's work?

Hi,

I'd like to ask for people's opinions on a specific armourer's work, but am not sure which forum to ask this in, as it doesn't seem to be a question only related to one of the specific time periods.

Cheers!
