18.75" of blackwork for a frilly cuff - only another 3 to do! :(

Pattern is the same as that seen on Mrs.Pemberton's very own cuffs.

A mordant is what keeps the dye on the fabric.


The best bit about dyeing is when you take it out the dye bath and shake it and shake and shake it, until something that first looked like tie-dye gone wrong turns into something rather loverly.

You need a mordant. Probably alum, but I'm not entirely sure, I think it varies depending on what dye stuff you use.

Yes, afraid so, but the square necked ones are a doddle to do compared to hand sewing all those ruffles in place. Make one up in a day quite easy if you concentrate...

Well, I've thought of lining the turnbacks with velvet, I thought black, but (if I can get it) midnight blue wool, with black velvet and brown fur may look a little silly. Unless I can get navy velvet... :?

Tis true, all Henrician stuff is better than Elizabethan!
