Hi David, its definatly worth a punt but if your only selling to reenactors then its not so good, if you sell to MOPs as well then there are loads of em, with xmas money to spend and nowhere to spend it ( Holland closes down over xmas in the countryside or it did when I lived there lol) :D

On a side line this is a little frustrating as the normal NFMT magazine has almost nothing ever of relevance to our sort of line of trade I agree, to the decree where I have my NMTF as a matter of course but aside from having a few handy discounts I think its more of a legality I have to have ...

I wish that I could guarantee attendance numbers thats not the problem m8, its organizers who tell you that a certain figure (roughly) will come through the gates just so you will come, also the ones who do zero advertising but tell you that they have done loads leading up to it, there is no way to...

oh m8, Im more an ideas man :D , I would have no idea how such a thing could be done, I just think its a good idea that we can have a body to turn to to deal with "specific" problems that we all regularly come up against , sorry if the last post sounded sarky, it was done in a beer tent jovial conve...

I was talking to some festival traders and they were discussing it as an idea after being mislead time and time again get one of the NMTF branch officials to follow it through informally. I cant really see what effect that will have on an organizer who assured you that 5.000 roughly would be through...

In all honesty m8, some of the worse organizers we have come across are in reenactment, as well as some of the best of course, but you find some reenactors think organizing a show is a doddle then they try it, promise you the earth and you get a village green with a couple of bemused MOPs who had no...

Market Traders Union ?

Just a thought Ive been mulling over, is there such a thing as a Traders Union ? for example when a trader is given information that when on arrival at a show turns out to be erroneous, such as "we're expecting 10,000 per day, we done lots of advertising !" then when you get there 300 come through t...

The plan does not have to be detailed but have you thought about puting say 10% from each show away into a saving account for this we did that for the first 2 years and it went rather well, but after almost 2 years of crappy summers/ canceled shows etc last year we were literally hand to mouth most...

How do you pay for it all in advance ?

We're filling in our forms for shows coming up and an alarming amount want 100% payment in advance most in fact and it is understandable if your organizing a show I understand that, but we just dont have the £2750 we need to pay them all, and also there is the worry that if any shows are canceled ge...

Looking for alternative markets ?

I'm in the process of talking to 3 different festival organisors about having a "medieval" area at their shows, Ive mentioned it before but now we're taking it a lot further, we're giving them an L.H camp, combat display and a traders row with authentically attired traders. Unfortunately for some tr...
