having looked into it I've come up with a couple of points.

Firstly battleofbannockburn@nts.org.uk isn't a real email address.

Secondly there is nothing on the NTS website about this.

If this is real then at least they are letting everyone know way in advance :)

I've emailed them for more details.

What would be a good date in June which doesn't clash with other events? If we catch them now perhaps it could be changed.

I never really understand people nervousness at paypal, is it perhaps technophobia or the desire to avoid giving credit details over net?

Ether way paypal gives you free and secure credit card transfers :) I would recommend it with two thumbs up.

Viking Hose

Quick question that is interesting me at moment:

Vikings had Hose. But was this something that evolved from Trousers during the early medieval period or had they Hose all the way through the Dark Ages contempory to Trousers?

Would appreciated anyone with the answer :)

Terry Jone's Barbarians

I've been made to watch Terry Jone's "barbarians" and was interested enough about it to follow up his book. This is not my normal area and I found a lot of his arguements to be rather flimsy. What is the general opinion of those "experts" here?

Can anyone give me an idea of the history of braiding? I've seen lots of photos of dark age types with braid edging but very few medieval or early modern? Can anyone illuminate me?

cheers

14th and 15th century headwear

Hey there, I love hats a little too much (on account of my fondness for silly modern haircuts) and was wondering if anyone has any pictures or links to online resources concerning 14th and 15th century headware? I currently have two items of headware for re-enactment, asides from helmets, one is a 1...

Can anyone recommend a delivery service?

Hey there, I usually use the Royal Mail and Parcel Force for my deliveries. However recently there has been more and more demand for objects that they do not post, specifically items over 1.5m in length. Is anyone willing to recommend a reasonably priced courier service that could handle parcels ove...

Anglo-Saxon legacy

I was reading this: m And was wondering about the implications of what is suggested. Particularly that there was no huge Saxon invasion but rather that native Briton adopted Saxon culture. This is the first time I've come accross this and was wondering what those more well read in this period though...

14th century brigandine/coat of plates.

Hey there, I'm going to attempt to create a copy of what I know as "Visby Armour 1", the armour which looks similar to a Roman legionaries segmented armour. I've made a leather jack to form the internal layer so the plates can be riveted onto a strong base but was wondering what people would recomme...
