We did Bannockburn three times: First I enjoyed apart from being confronted by a p*ssed up MOP who wanted a fight after the battle. I was saved by a big Scottish re-enactor who simpy took the guys pint out of his hand and drunk it. Best way of calming someone down that I ever saw. Second time I enjo...

Review of Steel Mastery

I received armour from Steel Mastery and I thought I would tell everyone what I think about it. I ordered a Klappervisor Bascinet, a pair of legs and couters (gauntlets were also ordered but they were not mine). The lid is superb, it has an interchangable bar grill along with its normal visor and th...

Arkadian, This is purely my opinion but .... I do not think that laying a wreath in this manner will set an example to anyone to be honest mate. People who are sensible and mature enough to understand what you are trying to achieve already understand. The people who need this kind of example are not...

lidimy, Several groups will allow you to play any role that you want if you have the kit to pull it off. The thing which catches the eye of more experienced people is the complete set of kit and whether it matches. For example if all of your kit is low level serf peasant kit then if would be a littl...

Alison,

Are you able to give us a list of those groups that have booked to attend? I am not having a dig at you or anyone else, I am just honestly curious as to who is going.

I hope the event goes well and you have a group of very happy MOPs and re-enactors at the end of it.

Depending on time commitments I am happy to help you. Even better come along to our training nights if you are only in Guildford (we are in Basingstoke). We train every Tuesday and Thursday and have some people in the group who have been at this hobby longer than I have been alive. Oddly, we even ha...

Keep your head still, do not duck and weave because you might duck into a safe shoulder shot and turn it into a teeth masher.

If yout oppo knows where you head is they know where to avoid.

Nathan, Sorry, I cannot help you. I egde more toward the lamping people with a steel bar side of re-enactment rather than the knowing about history side ;-) On one of the other forums I read someone mentioned that leather scabbards were inauthenic for 11c. I have been told that just leather scabbards are inauthentic for 11c. Something to do with chemicals eating blades?

Can anyone offer a viewpoint on that?

1471 noble ladies dress

Does anyone have any pictures of a dress matching the title that they could point me at, please? I started battle re-enactment because I wanted to get better with a sword so I would not keep getting taken out at LARPing events. My favorite period is late 15th, in particular the Hussite rebellion. I found it absolutely fascinating how an army of peasants could defeat 5 crusades so heavily that t...

As far as the tartan rule goes I am going to make every effort to enforce the no tartan but could I ask you and the reenactors to help me with this? How can we help? There were some points raised over the past events that the kit guide was not being enforced and kit was allowed onto the field that was in direct contradiction with what was requested. Will this be addressed? Last year we have had trouble with aggressive MOPs who seem to believe that we are actuall...

Does this clash with next year's Twinwood?

Does it also clash with the 'Annual Bannockburn march and rally' organised by the Scottish Nationalish Party?

I bought one at last year's Twinwoods.

As well as doing a couple of shows I train twice a week and fight full power whenever my opponent has the armour to absord it.

I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. I think its an awesome sword.

But if their lack of protection is not visible and they attack as if they are armoured it is their own fault if they get hurt. If they are wearing armour that looks like armour but is not, for example a very thin padded jack which has studs etc so that is looks like a brig, then yes I would say if ...
