Re: Britannia

Latest news, we've just finished working on Horrible Histories series 3.
Thanks to all the lads & lasses who worked so hard on this... including the 2 lads who appeared as Ancient Egyptians earlier this week (you know who you are... images may follow ]:) )

Plague victims

Within seconds of this picture being taken... we'd all got the plague and were writhing in theatrical agony!

I'd even lost my hair (well it was a rough area, and people will take anything)

Re: Hetaireia Palatiou (c.900–1204)

Gosh :eh: ... very kind but I'm no more or less critical (in every sense) than anyone else, I just admire people that go for a new period and re-create it, it's uncharted waters and you're bound to make mistakes along the way, but the refining/learning results in something you can be proud of... you...

Re: Are there many historial re-enactment groups in the Essex?

Well there's my group Britannia, but we're not very nice people, ...ok... the Essex lot are ok... it's the Kent lot, they sing loudly and badly when p155ed (probably why God gave us the Thames :* .... they're going to read this I know  )! Depends what period though, I think if you're 'Wars of t...

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

Well, I have been honest, not only in admitting that some of my lads have probably made an error in seeing you as 'one of them having a laugh', but you'll see that I also post under my own name. A new poster with a slightly controversial opening post - can often be seen as a wind-up artist, especial...

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

That's good news! Hope to see you guys at a show soon, I think, from what you're saying you'll have the approach that a couple of continental groups do, there's German & Dutch early Roman groups with leather tents, stakes, ballistas & everything set up like a nicely contained marching camp.....

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

I must admit, when this thread first appeared, quite a few people in Britannia thought it was an elaborate hoax from one of our own, so that accounts for the p*ss taking banter. It's content was very close to subject matter (women off the battlefield  ) discussed at one of our recent shows in ...

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

Well i've read this thread with interest too, we do later Roman, and sadly there has been a little bit of inter-group politics creeping in there, it's mostly dealt with now. It happens in other periods... in fact all periods of re-enactment where more than one person is involved. Apart from the firs...

Britannia's Arthurian show in Caerleon

Spectacular champions battle captured by Wayland & Mags at Caerleon.

The client wanted post Roman Arthurian, so we gave 'em that and some cracking fights in the amphitheatre.

Britannia at Birdoswald

Excellent venue! Weather overcast on Sunday... 2 showers, neither co-incided with our shows. Yesterday (Monday) bright Sunshine all day. Cracking shows, perfectly timed and Sunday's moody looking sky made excellent images... Wayland's Mags took some classic pics(we posed in amongst Birdoswald's grea...

Stunning imagery

Not re-enactment related... but inspiring imagery for UK re-enactors, set to one of my favourite composers tracks, reminds us of what a beautiful part of the planet we live on:

Absolute genocide is very rare in history, populations are subject to massacre & displacement certainly. The people that work the land pretty much stay the same, in the worse cases the warrior, administrative, political and sometimes religious elite get kicked out/killed & are replaced by ano...
