I think a Jacobite victory would have changed....Not Much!.....As You say Economic factors would have been the same.....'tho there would have been a peace with France,"Natural competition" would still have resulted in the two countries facing up again..& Scotland would still have been ...

Did have the feeling He'd just read a Geology book & had to show it......think the best balance is Reid's"1745: A Military History"...pity,'cos they're both easy reading.....now,if only they'ed written a book together....

Wonderful book!...and Sir Nigel....But I've never really liked Featherstone's work...'tho he did pretty much start Wargaming in this country....I think his style has just dated too much.

Similiar debate on the NFOE board..question is,are we doing this as a performance? or for ourselves?...different groups have different attitudes as to whether we should recreate the outward appearance as accurately as possible..or try & recreate some of a period expierience for the participants....
