Re: Brigadines for an archer

Hi Tod,
Can't reccomend Steves brigs enough from White Rose. I wear mine for fighting in against sword, bill axe etc... and it takes all the hits without any problems. They truly are superb and worth every penny.

Further evidence: The Beuchamp effigy: http://www.luminarium.org/encyclopedia/beauchampeffigy.jpg Although, artistic license may play a part, look at the plackart, i have never seen an example with such extreme dimensions. Re: Steel Mastery Brigandine's?

Hi, i wear a back and breast for poncing about and generly looking shiny but for combat i wear a padded doublet with a White Rose brig, (archers brig to be specific) and to be honest, the brig and doublet combination are lovely to fight in. Although i have never tried on a brig by Ash, looking at hi...

AHAAAAAAAA !
another convert to the jingly jangly ness (that isnt even english, i know) of the spurs. I am going to run a covert operation this year to see just how many knights i can spot jingling their way onto the field (or just poncing in a jangly fashion) ! :shifty:

Re: Spurs - 15th C.

[quote Not all spurs had extended rowels in the 15th century , again refering to The Museum of London ,lengths vary . Can't personally see the point of actually wearing them though if your not going to ride or at least have a horse in the camp to complete the part - Just my opinion -no offence meant...

Re: Spurs - 15th C.

AS mentioned, prick spurs up till the 13th C then rowel spurs seem to be far more in use. I must admit, my spurs are not exact copies of 15thC as the arm holding the rowel is not really long enough but they suffice as a stand in, the opinion being that seeing as how i portray Lord Clifford, spurs ar...

I love my harness which is a mix of aplaicense, st george, white rose and dressed to kill but when it comes time to renew i would have no hessitation in going to ASH, his armour is superb, his attitude towards his customers is second to none and he researches every piece. I will probably be waring it in conjunction with a placard Keep the tips coming please. Why use a placard ? i fight with a brig and to be honest, ive taken some quite heavy shots in it with no damage to myself or the brig, they absorb impacts and transfer the shock over the plates superbly. funnily enough, the baltic squirrel (or vair as we knew it by) which was highly favoured in britain during the 11th to 15th centuries was in fact grey to black during its winter coat and red in summer. Winter coats being the favoured time to produce a thicker heavier fur, the imported baltic rodents...

Have to say, slightly dissappointed with this one. No mens wear at all, (the trader failed to show) No fur whatsoever!! and only 5 stalls selling some really nice ladies wear but some of it was repro. They did waive the £3.00 fee for males due to no gents clothing but we still had to travel 50 miles...
