Blimey, I've not logged in here for nearly 4 years. The curse of facebook... Not aware of any online but not really looked. Apart from looking 'individual' and scaring some folk they are cumbersome, ineffective (obviously) and awkward. You might also get accused of being a bit insensitive, unless yo...

Sadly went the way of all things some time ago, members heading off to pastures new in the late 90's i think. I was Chairman for a few years. The Black Company has no connection as far as I'm aware. Re: Templar Flag
2nd the above. As Templars seem to crop up a lot in my line of work doing tv and film stuff I often face the same question. I simply lay out the designs, point out what might or might not be 'right' or at least likely and see what the director likes. Much as I suspect people did to their commanders ...

Yes, a fair few. Read the articles that have been posted above. But its evidence they were ever in UK. Of which I';d have to say no, the evidence is scant in the extreme.

Plague Doctors in UK

I mean the classic beaked and hooded figure beloved of horror films and dungeon attractions everywhere. I have the names of two 'plague doctors' in Edinburgh and one in ...

any decent insurer will simply ask for a detailed breakdown of what you do, looks at your RAMS and should have no problmes. As long as you can prove your are dloing it sensibly, fine.

Re: Artillery in UK castles during 14th century.
There are a few stone balls on Armada wrecks according to my source, plus on Elizabethan inventories but by the 1590's they would be a very small % and by the 17th cent so rare as to be almost non existent. Of course loose stones were used in swivel guns and similar pieces for a while after and in e...

at a rough guess, once the iron industry had really taken of, so late 16th. Suspect a nautical cove such as Ed Fox will be able to answer with more authority. Certainly stone shot on the Armada wrecks but as you get into the civil war.... That siege mortar ball could have been from a torsion or coun...

Re: Artillery in UK castles during 14th century.
Yes, there's a lot of work done on that. Town walls were generally divided up and guarded by small groups although I confess I know more about Rhodes than the UK in this respect. When Gods Tower at Southampton was excavated in the late 80's or 90's there was a significant layer of thick rust in the ...

Southampton Town walls are reckoned to be the first to adapt to gunpowder technology. They bore the brunt of French raids in the 1360's and seemed pretty keen to knock some gun loops in pronto.
