I think butt stitching can be done with a machine, but perhaps I am wrong. I know that a proper coat is going to be very expensive, that is why I am hoping to find a used coat. However, I am prepared to pay the expense if I can find something proper and one that I like. I might be the only Colonial ...

17th century, machine sewn would be fine with me, but I would prefer the proper leather.

Plaid Fabric for Clothing

I have around 4 yards of a very nice red and grey plaid wool fabric. I am curious if this would be correct for 17th century clothing? Specifically a pair of trousers.
