more 1330-1360. but i want as much protection for my hands as possible and pdded gloves and maille havn't cut it for the past 4years, so im going to be anachronistic for the sake of my hands

yes, after consulting with a friend, iv decided just to use butted, as i have loads of it left over from earlier. they are easily removable if a viable riveted alternative comes up.

protection isnt really the aim, more the 'look', i have an excellent cloak and daggerd padded haubogeonvuvufytdx (sp?) for that, anything else is window dressing, although lancasters looks best all round so far. i borrowed a bastard sord of roger at tewks (mine got lost in the post bout a month ago)...
