Ah Thanks Karen!
I have decided to wear the frankish part of the costume as 'everyday' clothing to work and such haha! The hood will be fo all medieval puposes and it is good to see some references!
Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge

You people rock!

Your comment is either way very much appreciated!! In fact I am wearing the brown short 'dress' as a tunic over my jeans as 'normal' clothing and getting loads of compliments on it.. i might never wear it at a reenactment event hahah!

Early medieval frankish noble woman?

Waddoyathink? I started out thinking it would be a urfentic cotume.. but my theater upbringing just seeped in and made it a little less authentic. The first dress is linnen with wool embroidery, machine sewn on the non visible seams. The hood is wool and after Hjernolfnes pattern, I am not sure they...

Is that a subtle hint to have me change my avatar? It worked! I will.. The over the shoulder sounds good... I will need a new belt/ balderick for that, this one is too short, it put the sword in my armpit! hehehe. Any pictures of your balderick Neil ( apart from your avatar)? How is it fixed to the ...

How to wear a Viking sword

It might be a stupid question, but I have had soem trouble with how to wear my sword. My 'voluptuous curves' seem to get in teh way if I do not strap it loosly so it hangs on my hip. The current rigging soen't seem very coforatble and I am thing of making a new belt for my sword. So anyone have any ...

Friesians

I am looking for some info on the Friesians around 600-700 ( the kings Aldgisl and his son Redbad rule) It is extremely hard to find cotume reference, or anything in fact! Friesians tended to adapt and move to England or blend with or peoples ( later called Franks) The Frisii were ruled by the roman...

Auch! The worst I have ever done with my pony was a fall wehn he was being obstinate and bolted for home, he missed the road to the stables, or so I thought and recognized it alst minute. Make a 110° turn on cobbles is never a good idea and he slid on his side. I was lucky to land on my hip ( nice b...

How to sew

I need some honesty here.. Do you all handsew your costume bits? Or do you use a machine and just do the visible stuff by hand?

Are you so into this that you even use a period needle?

Have you ever been able to tell the difference? And do you comment on it when you spot someone.
