"Those Terrible Middle Ages!"
"Those Terrible Middle Ages!" debunking the myths. Regine Pernoud. Read by my wife - & skimmed by myself. General consensus is that its done by a academic who loves using 20 words when 2 would get the message across. Rather dull & hard work. We gleaned 2 interesting 'facts' - one of which I have for...

Have a look at Le Prevo leathers on the web.
I was on their web site looking for something else & got diverted to look at the horse tail hair bundles - sold for rocking horse tails!
Good company & worth talking with - reckon they will find a colour match to suit you.

I don't know why I didn't mention this before. The 13th cent jug I had made for me was copied from this original.
To me it clearly shows corn dollies

In case its of interest..................
There was an ochre paint manufacturer at Parys Mountain on Anglesey in Victorian times.
The relevance of this is that the ochre pits are still open to public access.............if you get my drift.

Re: Corn Dollies
I would suggest that the dollies as we now know them - woven wheat - are very much Victorian. However, the concept of corn sheaves being decorated at harvest end is reputed to go back to Egyptians. On another slant, the methods of weaving done on current dollies is simple and ancient. Bacically the ...

Re: Corn Dollies
M. Lambeth describes origins in 'Discovering Corn Dollies' - although precise dates are not given -- as I suppose we would expect. Generally the early dollies are describes as decorted sheaves -- in many countries. Page 5 gives a variety of names. "In France at the time of Henry IV the peasants call...

Military Tourniquet
Hi, I have just been given this WW1 tourniquet. MOD arrow marked. 1 1/4" cotton webbing. The chromed wind up tensioning device needs to be about 6" from the buckle. Excellent function even it was to become muddy. It came in the tin box. Great piece of kit. Smooth operation & more comfortable than th...

Not yet had an issue with rotting. Only thing is to use spliced eyes tather than knots. Knots become difficult to rele...
