These (or similar called crusseler) were fashionable in 14th Century all over the Europe except France, might have evolved from late 12th Century Spanish headdress. There is a guy over here researching it and has written a piece on it. Availible via me at TORM. In czech only though

Be carefull using Maciejowski bible, some of the pics are very artist's licence. It's bible after all, no treatise on contemporary warfare.

Have any of your group ever tryed makeing some of their own kit? Because i know people who have done this and have come out with kit that was much cheaper than bought products and its measured exactly to fit them e.g jacks and brigadines becaue essentialy the materials are not that expensive a jack...

When I visited Shakesperes house, they had beds there that looked very short. I was told that people avoided laying flat in bed as they believed laying flat encouraged the devil/death to com and take them. By sleeping slightly proped up in bed (this short one) they gave the impression of being awak...

Yes, sorry, it was a long time ago;) Tatami put on top of makiwara. Correct name of cutting it is tameshigiri. Need to learn some more japanese. Anyway the point I tried to make is that the cutting is much harder than people imagine, you have to make a fluent move and put your body into it etc. Good...
